What is the care?

Since these pieces are made of wool, they are fairly resistant to liquid spills, soiling, and are very wear-resistant. The care and maintenance is very simple. A quick vacuum on a medium or high carpet setting or even as simple as a quick shake outside. Blotting up liquid spills is usually more than enough to take care of most spills and to keep from staining.

Can I machine wash the pieces?

It is not recommended to machine wash the Zapotec rugs or wool blankets. We recommend to have the pieces professionally dry cleaned. You could also use a wool cleaning product (e.g. Woolite) and a hand wash and hang dry. We also recommend to hang dry only with the rugs and blankets.

Are these blankets?

The Zapotec weavings themselves are not blankets, but we do carry wool blankets. The blankets are created from locally raised wool from Imperial Stock Ranch in Shaniko, Oregon.

What are the uses/what is the best way to display?

The Zapotec rugs, runners, placemats, and coasters can be used for practically anything! They can be a table runner, on top of an entertainment center, a wall hanging, or an area rug.

Where are they made?

The Zapotec rugs are made down in an ancient village of Teotitlan del Valle in the state of Oaxaca, Mexico. The weaving is done mostly by the men, but it is a whole family affair with the dyeing process. Each family has their secrets for the dyeing and the weaving and it is not spread from family to family.

Will the colors bleed into my carpet?

The colors will not bleed into your carpet or with each other. The dyes are made from  traditional and organic materials, as well as natural shades of wool.

Is it 100% wool?

Absolutely, without question!

Not 100% sure?

We also offer a product take home option for those who may be on the fence about an item. We confidentially take the credit card information, but don’t run the charge or put a hold on the account. Instead, the product can be taken home and tried it out. If it works, call us up and we will run your card and email you a receipt . If it doesn’t work, simply return the item and we return your information to you. This way, the customer is 100% satisfied with no obligation!
